Privacy Policy

Last updated 8/1/2026

This site is operated by Biophilic Media LLC, an Arizona limited liability company doing business as Steve Austin Fine Art Photography. This policy explains what information the site collects, why it is collected, who else sees it, and what you can ask me to do about it.

The short version: I collect what I need to answer your message, send the newsletter you asked for, and deliver a print you bought. I do not sell your information, rent it, or use it for advertising.

What this site collects

When you use the contact form

The form asks for your name, email address, phone number, and message. I use all four to reply to you and to keep track of the conversation if it continues over several weeks. Google reCAPTCHA checks the submission for automated spam before it reaches me.

When you join the newsletter

The signup form asks for your name and email address, and those are stored with MailerLite, the service that sends the newsletter. MailerLite records whether you opened a message and whether you clicked a link in it, which tells me which subjects are worth writing about. Every email carries an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you from the list without any further step from you.

When you buy a print

Your card number never reaches this website. Payment is handled on Stripe's own checkout pages. Stripe processes the card, and I see the last four digits, the card brand, and whether the charge succeeded. I never see or store the full number, the expiration date, or the security code.

I keep your name, contact details, shipping address, and order record because a limited edition print carries a certificate of authenticity tied to a specific number in a specific edition. That record is how I know which print is yours if you contact me in ten years about a repair, an insurance appraisal, or a resale.

Automatically, when you visit

The web server records your IP address, browser type, the pages you view, and the time of your visit. Server logs are standard for every website and exist mainly for security and troubleshooting. I do not use them to build a profile of you.

Analytics

This site uses Google Analytics to show me which pages people read, how they arrived, and where they leave. I use it to decide what to write next and what to fix, not to identify anyone.

Google Analytics does not log or store your IP address. It uses your IP briefly to estimate an approximate location, then discards it. What reaches me is aggregate: which country or region a visit came from, which pages held attention, which links were followed. I cannot see who you are, and I cannot connect a visit to a person.

Google Analytics sets first-party cookies on your browser to tell one visitor from another. Google processes this data on my behalf, under its own privacy policy and terms. You can opt out by blocking cookies in your browser, or by installing Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Neither affects your ability to read the site or place an order.

Cookies

This site uses a small number of cookies, and none of them are for advertising. One keeps track of what is in your shopping cart so the contents survive a page reload. Google reCAPTCHA sets cookies to distinguish people from automated scripts. Stripe sets cookies during checkout to process your payment and detect fraud. Google Analytics sets first-party cookies to distinguish one visitor from another, the longest of which lasts two years.

Your browser lets you block or delete cookies. If you block them, the shopping cart will not work.

Who else sees your information

Four companies handle information on my behalf. Each one has its own privacy policy, and each is bound to use what it receives only to provide its service.

  • WideRange Galleries hosts this website and runs the gallery software, including the contact form and the shopping cart.
  • Stripe processes payments and calculates sales tax at checkout.
  • MailerLite stores the newsletter list and sends the newsletter.
  • Google provides two services here. reCAPTCHA screens form submissions for spam, and Analytics measures site traffic. Both are governed by Google's own privacy policy and terms of service.

Printing and framing are done by production partners, and a shipping carrier delivers the work. A partner receives only what it needs to make and deliver your print, which usually means your name and address.

I do not sell your personal information. I do not trade it, rent it, or hand it to advertisers or data brokers. I would disclose information only if a court order, a subpoena, or another legal obligation required it.

How long I keep it

Contact form messages stay in my email for as long as the conversation is useful, and I clear out old inquiries periodically. Newsletter subscriptions last until you unsubscribe. Order and edition records are permanent, because the value of a limited edition depends on an accurate record of who holds which number.

What you can ask for

Write to me at [email protected] and I will tell you what information I hold about you, correct anything that is wrong, or delete what I am not required to keep. Ask me to stop emailing you and I will. The one thing I cannot erase is the edition record attached to a print you purchased, since that record is part of the artwork's provenance and other collectors rely on it being accurate.

Expect a reply within thirty days.

Visitors outside the United States

This site is operated from Arizona and stored on servers in the United States. If you contact me or order from another country, your information travels here and is handled under United States law, which may protect it differently than the law where you live. Ordering or subscribing means you accept that transfer.

Children

This site is meant for adults and I do not knowingly collect information from anyone under thirteen. If you believe a child has submitted information here, write to me and I will remove it.

Security

The site runs over an encrypted connection and payment happens on Stripe's PCI-compliant systems rather than mine. No system on the internet is perfectly secure, and I will not pretend otherwise. Keeping card data off my own server is the single biggest thing I can do to protect you, and that is how the checkout is built.

Changes to this policy

When this policy changes I will update the date at the top. A change that affects how I use information you already gave me will also go out to the newsletter list.
