The East Coast works at a smaller scale than the West and asks for a closer kind of looking. Covered bridges, gorge streams, inland lakes, and hardwood forest that spends one month a year doing something extraordinary and the rest being quietly itself. Nothing here overwhelms, which means attention is not seized but has to be given, and that turns out to be the more restful of the two.
