A golden glow transforms a cascading waterfall into a luminous spectacle, embodying nature's serene majesty at twilight.

Ephemeral Blaze

Yosemite National Park, California

ARTIST'S STORY

Ephemeral Blaze captures one of nature’s rarest performances, when Yosemite’s waterfall transforms into flowing fire under perfectly aligned light. I waited for days, knowing that if the clouds were too thick or the sun too dim, this moment would never reveal itself. When everything finally came together, the waterfall ignited, glowing like molten lava as it spilled over the cliff, even though it was only water dancing in light. Standing there, I felt an overwhelming sense of awe and gratitude for witnessing something so fleeting and precise. This image reflects why I create my work, to preserve moments that remind us how powerful, humbling, and deeply renewing it can be to simply stand in wonder before nature.
