**ARTIST’S STORY**

In the few minutes after sunset on a winter evening, the alpenglow catches the Goldfield Mountains above the Salt River at an angle that turns the rock faces a specific and extraordinary orange - warmer than direct sunlight, more concentrated than anything the middle of the day produces, the color of something lit from within.

The Salt River, still and cooling in the evening air, held the mountains in a reflection so precise it created two worlds in a single frame - fire above, calm below, the permanent and the passing face to face at the end of another day.
