ARTIST’S STORY
There is a moment in autumn when the trees stop holding back. Not a gradual shift, but a full and unapologetic surrender to color, as if the forest has been saving something all year and finally decides the time has come to spend it all at once.
I found this curve of track on a morning when the season had reached exactly that moment. The rails disappeared into a tunnel of red, orange, and gold so saturated it felt less like a forest and more like a statement. I stood at the threshold of it for a long time before I raised the camera.
What held me was the track itself. It does not go straight. It bends, gently but with intention, curving out of sight into all that color. You cannot see the destination. You can only see the invitation.
We spend a great deal of energy needing to know what is around the bend. The research on stress and psychological restoration tells us that one of the things nature does so reliably is return us to the present moment, where the bend in the path is not a threat but simply the next beautiful thing waiting to be met.
The Turning is not about autumn ending. It is about what becomes possible when you stop resisting the change and simply follow the track into the color, trusting that whatever waits around that curve is worth moving toward.
Some seasons ask you to let go. This one asks you to lean in.
